» “1 in 5 Macs has malware on it. Does yours?”

So says Sophos based on a study they conducted of users of their free virus scanning software which does not seem likely to be representative of the Mac community as a whole.

The other problem with this title is that 1 in 5 Macs in their study have Windows malware on them. The infection rate of Mac viruses is 1 in 36. On a certain slice of Macs.

On Twitter, Sophos’ Graham Cluley tried to point out the distinction between harboring malware and being infected, which is a little like closing the front door after you invited the cows in to crap all over the living room rug.
