Facebook today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire WhatsApp, a rapidly growing cross-platform mobile messaging company, for a total of approximately $16 billion…

Cross platform messaging does seem like a good fit and I understand WhatsApp is pretty popular, but as Ben Bajarin notes, this is more than Google paid for Motorola and Nest combined. Not that this is going to stop me from making fun of Google buying Motorola.

This sounds like it might be a better deal, anyway.
