Have fun storming the castle!

Yesterday, after hearing that App.net had met its funding goal, I joked on Twitter:

Ugh. Can’t believe Facebook just bought App.net.

Because I’m a cynical jerk.

I also dropped my $50 in their busking bucket, mostly because, if it does catch on, I wanted to reserve “moltz”. I’d rather kill myself than use “johnmoltz” like I have to on Flickr or “jtmoltz” like I do on Gmail or “bieberfan_90832473828” like on oops, I’ve said too much.

I don’t know Dalton Caldwell but he seems like a good guy who’s interested in doing good things rather than cashing out. It’s not exactly an easy thing to take on Twitter at this point, but you don’t have to get to that level to be a success. If you recall, Twitter — as everything, really — was better before all those people showed up. Now, like the man said, “Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.”
