» WWDC 2014
June 2-6 and tickets move to a lottery. Much like The Lottery, expect the winners to be stoned by their peers (whoops, spoiler alert).
» ‘Stampy in the Hunger Games’
I join John Gruber on this week’s episode of The Talk Show to discuss this year’s Macworld/iWorld conference, Minecraft, YouTube and that time I slammed Paul Kafasis’s hand in a car door (still feel bad about that).
» Apple’s past, present and future
On Friday at Macworld/iWorld, Paul Kafasis, Dan Moren and I sat down to talk about rumors, where Apple might be going and the hotness of maturity.
» Microsoft announces Office for iPad
Freemium with subscription service: $10 for Office 360 Home Premium and $7 for personal, which isn’t too far off from what you’d pay for a license every few years.
I truly believe this has little to no impact on the consumer market and less impact on the enterprise market than many people believe, but it’s a smart move on Microsoft’s part. What wasn’t smart was waiting four years to do it.

» Elmo Ate Daddy
Episode 12 of Turning This Car Around looks at birthday parties, some where Lex dresses up as Elmo. Yes, there’s a picture.
» A poke in the eye
Facebook is buying Oculus:
Acquisition positions Facebook to accelerate Oculus’ growth in gaming, communications and new social experiences
Looking forward to a lot of cool first-person VR poking games.
» Mac user’s guide to Minecraft
TUAW’s Mike Wehner has a good primer if you haven’t already gotten into Minecraft.
» Smartwatch Chic
I started noticing that smartwatches are already affecting fashion sense, particularly in the general wrist area, so I thought I’d collect some of the examples of just how technology is changing cuff lengths.
» A step in the right direction
Mary Jo Foley:
Microsoft will rebrand its cloud platform from ‘Windows Azure’ to ‘Microsoft Azure’ as part of the company’s push to emphasize its cross-platform services prowess.
Slapping “Windows” on absolutely every damn thing whether it was related to Windows or not only made those products suffer in the eyes of people who grew tired of Windows, but also devalued the Microsoft brand.
