Gruber lists Apple’s customer base and its relationship with AT&T as key ways it managed to push the iPhone over other phones. The third way was the Apple Store. I would love to see how many iPhones are sold in Apple Stores versus carrier stores. Apple doesn’t break that out. I’m sure carrier stores sell more simply because there are so many more of them globally, but at the Apple Store, that’s the only phone.

Maybe if Microsoft opened a crapton more Microsoft Stores…
